Just Give Them What They Want!

I’m sure you won’t disagree with this…

The easiest way to make money in any business is to just
give people what they want. I don’t mean literally give it
to them. I mean if you offer people what they want they WILL
buy it from you.

It’s a simple formula that’s been around since the beginning
of time and it never fails. Why? Because if you’re giving
people what they want then you’re simply the gatekeeper.
You’re just the person standing between them and whatever it
is they want.

You don’t have to sell anything to people in this situation.
In fact, they’ve already sold themselves. As long as the
price is right you’re guaranteed to make a profit.

Let me tell you a little story to illustrate exactly what I
mean.

I went to my first Washington Nationals Baseball game
recently and it was a great experience. The weather was
nice. The beer was cold. Most importantly, the National won.
So, it was a good day.

I notice a few things on this excursion that apply directly
to the topic at hand. First, with the Nationals being such a
new team, I noticed there was certainly a great deal of
exhilaration in the air. Everyone was eager and excited to
adopt this new team as there own. Second, I noticed that
there was large number of booths selling Nationals
paraphernalia. The booths were ready and waiting to give the
fans exactly what they wanted.

Guess the result?

At EVERY booth I saw many fans adopting their new team by
buying Nationals paraphernalia. It didn’t mater if the booth
was just a table with some hats on it or if the booth was an
elaborate set up with everything from jerseys to baby
bottles – ALL the booths had fans buying something from
them.

Why didn’t matter how elaborate the “sales” format was?
Because the fans new what they wanted and when they saw it
they bought it. It’s that simple. In fact, as I sit here
writing to you I’m wearing a Nationals hat myself!

So what are they takeaways?

As long as you can find an audience that is hungry for what
you have you can’t fail to make money. Know who you’re
marketing to well enough to know what they want. Then just
give it to them!

Oh, you’re good for nothing

I don’t believe in good for nothing.

I was walking down the aisle of a large supermarket when I heard a mother hissing to her crying child, “Good for nothing! Nothing! You better stop this now or I will leave you with the police man”. Not that I am angel when it comes to being a parent to my kids. Sometimes, I falter too and I will yell and shout and throw a massive, scary temper and my kids would cower in fright thinking that their mom was going crazy. Hey, I am human, amn’t I?

But I would never call my kids stupid or good for nothing.

For one thing, I sincerely believe that education is important – but it’s not everything. We, as parents, have to carry this grave responsibility of providing our children with education. Not only do we have to fund it, we have to ensure that they learn whatever they can learn from the education system so that they can benefit from it later on in life. Knowledge is a funnel. A funnel whereby information can flow into and train a mind to think and react in a certain knowledgeable way. It’s important.

But frankly, I don’t think it’s everything.

Listening to their cues
What’s more important to us, parents, is the listening skill, not directing or bossing skill. We need to learn how to take cues from our kids, open up gates and doors and let them explore and watch them. Watch how they are taking in the vast opportunities that are being presented to them. Do they like it? Are they interested? Is this their calling? Is this their gift? This is what goes through my mind whenever I introduce something new to my kids. We, parents, should not try to force something…ANYTHING…on to our kids.

As much as I hate being forced to do something (I quit the banking world for a reason, didn’t I?), I won’t force my kids to do something that they don’t like. Of course, there are things that they HAVE to do (like homework, cleaning up, showering, good manners…etc), I also have to bear the responsibility of ensuring that they are well disciplined and yet free to explore the world. But in other respects non-related to their safety and general well-being, force is not my style.

Even the worst kid in school can do well
I believe we all know of geniuses who have made it far beyond our human comprehension. People who we, today, claim as geniuses were called ‘buffoons’ in their early days. Let’s take Albert Einstein as an example. His teacher thought he was a complete loser and yet today, the world think and knows FOR A FACT that he is and was a genius. Even in death, he made a difference not only in his own life…but to the rest of the world too.

While we should not expect our child to be Einstein or paint like Da Vinci, we should always be on a lookout for their gift.

The gift…everyone has one
Everyone has a gift, God is fair. One person may fare well in math while the other did terribly. But if you look close enough, you’ll see that the second child who can’t count for nuts can paint like no one else! No one is born without a gift, which is what I believe. Some people have multiple gifts and are multi-talented in nature but no one in this world is without one.

Parents should set out to find out the gift of their child. It could be anything! ANYTHING! Like Don who loves cleaning out closets and is meticulous in arranging stuff – he’s a good accountant today. Like Gina who loves to play in the playground instead of doing her homework – she’s one of the most popular kids’ football team coaches in her country today. And Simon who was so weak in math that his mother almost told him to leave the house and never come back – he’s a professor in Philosophy today.

Think about it
No one is good for nothing. Even trees or worms are good for something. Trees give us oxygen and some serve as food. Worms digs holes in the ground and helps trees grow. Even bacteria are good at something. Bacteria can actually benefit our health. What about mud? Think mud pack? Everything is good for something….why not your child? Your job, as a parent, is to find that ‘good’, find that talent. And perhaps, maybe it’s got nothing to do with education.

Wedding Songs

In every country, culture and religion, weddings are an occasion of joy in which family and friends get together to celebrate and wish for a great life ahead full of hope and faith for the newlyweds. Because weddings are celebratory in nature, music, dance and songs have always held a special place in such ceremonies.

The music and songs played at any wedding sets the stage and the mood for the wedding and the reception thereafter. The style of the wedding plays an important role in the songs that are played. Also the place where the wedding is held, influences and helps decide the kind of songs to be played. For example, if the marriage is in a church, there are bound to be restrictions. Hence one has to pick and choose from a list of songs that the particular church allows to be played at the wedding. Any particular songs that the bride and the groom may want should be discussed with the cleric prior to the wedding day.

There are various musical choices that can be played during weddings. They range from the classical to the contemporary, and can be played from recordings or by live performers. Each choice has a different feel, and sets a different mood for the wedding. What one choses to play at a wedding depends on the mood that has to be set. If the couple wants a solemn mood, then they can choose classical or traditional music. However, contemporary wedding songs or live performers will help to create a lively atmosphere.

Publisher Bashing: New Authors, Contracts, Publishing

New Authors, contracts, and Publishing:

Many new authors sign a contract with a publisher without reading it thoroughly. The excitement of being published for the first time is so overwhelming that they ignore the fact that they are signing a binding contract. Later they are shocked that once published they have not become an immediate millionaire. They lose all contact with reality, immediately find fault, and blame with the publisher.

These disappointed authors tend to join various writers boards and then bash their publishers, or complain about the low royalty check they receive. It never occurs to them that the author regardless as to who publishes them always does promotion. Publishers will tend to aid and support any previously famous author who has made money for the publisher, but usually not an unknown.

I think we must all realize that we tend to join various boards as a means of promotion for our book or books. This is a wise decision by all new authors, but some may get carried away by some negative postings of the discontented.

I for one have joined countless boards. From time to time I even forget which ones, and am shocked to read that some are bashing Publish America, a successful publisher in Maryland, who accepts many new authors. Publish America is a print on demand publisher, one of the first, and now followed quite recently by many bigger, well-known publishers. I think that none of us should condemn anyone if by accident or he or she is a member on such a board.

Like all authors and shoppers there are always some things we could complain about. Whether a product we bought in a store or a publisher, we all have some complaints. However, I never forget that Publish America was the only publisher so far that willingly gave me an opportunity to be published. For that, I am eternally grateful. I do mean eternally. Why bash or bite the hand that feeds you? However, there is far more than monetary gains to this business of writing and being recognized.

Having been in the accounting and business world most of my life, I recognize the need for all companies to make a profit to stay in business. How they do that is up to their own ingenious ways and I respect anyone and all who can do this successfully in these difficult times.

I do think that many new authors are a bit naive about business, profits, and bottom lines. This confusion leads to misunderstandings.

The reality is that Publish America and many new publishers are doing so many things right. The publishing business is presently in some change, some due to publishers of print on demand such as Publish America. It is obvious that Publish America is making a profit. I only hope they continue and grow as they are. My advice to all authors is to read your contract carefully before signing and recognize exactly what is expected of you. Do not expect fame and fortune and do not feel cheated when the reality is that it may never come. Don’t bash or blame your publisher.

POD publisher stands for two types of publishers, and is a new expression not used in the same way by all people. Print on demand, and publish on demand. Both are referred to as a POD publisher. The Vanity press is used to recognize publishers who serve authors who wish to self publish. Too many people seem to think this is a negative form of publishing. Why? Some of the most famous writers self-published, a few still self publish as it offers the option of no contract and the freedom to sell or promote their book without any sharing of profits. Before anyone signs with a publisher, they must understand the publishing market and all the options available to them. Then they must consider and understand that various competing publishers will use negative advertising to obtain your business in a very competitive market.

It is all a part of the saying “Buyer Beware.”

Christian Dior Had Always Passion To Scents

Christian Dior had always passion to scents: “Perfume is a shadow, a reflection of woman’s personality, that’s her last image”. Miss Dior, Diorama, Diorissimo which were created during Dior’s life, have in their names the sacred name “DIOR”. They are identified as classic, “Dioric” scents. Their flacons and packages are designed in Dior’s fashion house style: gray, white and pink colors, medallions a-la Louis 14, silk laces around the flacons.

Miss Dior was created in 1947, in breaking a record period- in one month!
Stable and feminine scent was very unusual for those times. In 1966 Dior introduced the first masculine perfume Eau Sauvage, which became a classic. Another perfume for men, Farenheit (1988) has a wide popularity all over the world till today. It symbolizes the man of the 80’s.

Dior’s conception about the power of the femininity is expressed in series of sensual perfumes with a shocking name: POISON. “POISON” for women is available in four versions: POISON (1985), TENDRE POISON (1994), HYPNOTIC POISON (1998) and PURE POISON (2004). Poison has a mysterious seductive power. Tendre poison- the light version for women of the beginning of the 90’s ……which symbolizes poet’s dreaminess. Hypnotic poison- seductive and magnetic scent. This extravagant scent has “diabolic” sensuality. The flacon reminds us of a dangerous temptation of “forbidden fruit”.

WOMAN PERFUME NEW FRAGRANCE BY DIOR: MISS DIOR CHERIE

Galliano, the art director of Dior’s fashion house from 1997 says: “I wanted neither to change the first perfume Miss Dior, nor to change its flacon: the new perfume had to orientate on it. Fashion is changing; perfume has to change with it.” Perfume family: Chypre. The first note: green mandarin. The “heart” note: violet, a rose jasmine, accords of caramel popcorn and frozen raspberries ice cream. The base note: patchouli, christallic muscus.

MAN PERFUME NEW FRAGRANCE BY DIOR: Dior Homme

Dior Homme- it is a new masculine perfume by Christian Dior. The perfume is orientated on men audience between the ages 20-40, modern and classic the same time. The main note of the perfume: Iris. Cardamon, vetiver, lavender and leather are added. The flacon is minimalist and simple in its design, wrapped in black-silver package. An Irish model Jeff is advertising the new perfume. He wears a black suit by Dior and a shirt with opened . Two items are both from a new a collection by Dior.

Authors

An author is a chronicler and creator of works of fiction or facts in book, electronic, or document form. It took American authors nearly 200 years after setting foot on the new continent to develop their own style and set standards to be followed by future generations.

Initially, the style was more of a colonial carryover, relying on historical and religious writings. The change came with the American War of Independence, giving a sense of belonging and opportunity. We had classics like The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and authors such as Washington Irving. The great authors of nineteenth centuryNathaniel Hawthorne, Herman Melville, and Edgar Allan Poegave way to post-Civil War trendsetters or mega authors like Mark Twain (Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Adventures of Tom Sawyer) and the birth of realism in American writings. It was also a period of thinker authors such as Ralph Waldo Emerson, an ex-minister who published a nonfiction work called Nature.

Social themes were the hallmark of twentieth-century writings, and authors Henry James, Edith Wharton, Upton Sinclair, Jack London, Sinclair Lewis, Ernest Hemingway, and F. Scott Fitzgerald brought out impressive characterizations of the period. Another important event of this era was the emergence of black authors finally breaking away from the slavery mold. They soon worked towards crossing the racial line and entering mainstream publishing.

Every century has its icons, and the present is cluttered with aspiring authors and celebrities like Hillary and Bill Clinton and Dan Brown of The Da Vinci Code fame and with autobiographies of political or theatrical figures. Other first-time success stories are book authors or information spreaders who market the written word through specific topic books, audio programs, fiction, history, home-study courses, computer programs, seminars, or newsletters. Certain subject areas like electronic media, research papers, blogs, e-zines, or how-to books restrict the creativity of authors. Some authors get lucky with first-time books and follow them up with a series that could be how-to books, suspense, detective, family drama, or humor series. Trinity authors have unique content and established platforms, which they refurbish to their advantage. Whatever the subject, success depends on the sincerity of purpose and of words.

What Is Motherhood?

When we think of a mother, what kind of a picture we get in our mind? A compassionate lady who will sacrifice all her comforts and will work ceaselessly in the home without expecting any monetary reward, only to take care of her children. Is this correct? Motherhood means sacrifice and pain from day one of conception. But this pain and sacrifice brings forward a beautiful feeling in a woman after she finds that her children are happy and healthy. That is the only reward she desires from her children. And that is motherhood.

This is true not only for humans but all mothers of the animal kingdom. A tigress will attack you and kill you if you dare to approach her cubs. Every animal mother teaches her young ones the art of living in their world. Every mother is ready to go to any length to save her young ones. A woman begins dreaming about her child soon after conception. Many expectant mothers talk to the yet to be born child. They feel totally comfortable doing that. They plan for the future of the kid, food, education, clothing, shelter everything. From the poorest to the richest mothers, we find that a sense of protecting her progeny is the most common trait.

For a mother, the child is her extension. This is not so for the fathers. But mothers treat the child as same as themselves. Why? Nature gives this love to a mother so that the specie continues. Mothers are special. In few studies it has been found that infants stop crying when they listen to the recorded sounds of their mothers womb. They were protected there and when they come out in the world, they are surprised with the difference. The sounds of womb tell them that things have still not changed so much and they feel comforted. That is one of the reasons why touch works wonders. The more a mother touches her children physically, the more loved they feel. They get the reassurance of the protection of the mother.

A child should always feel indebted to his/her mother because nobody else including the father sacrifices so much as the mother to bring us up. Mother is compassion and for a young kid, mother is God.

Free Web Page Hosting – Is It Right For you?

The short answer is: Maybe. Free web page hosting may be a great way to get started with your Web presence, especially if you are planning to develop a personal website.

Nearly all Internet Service Providers give you very limited free hosting when you sign up for an internet access plan. But it’s usually just enough for a page or two. There are even some web hosting companies who’ll give you a fairly complete free web site hosting package.

Quid Pro Quo

The give-back with free web page hosting is that you must accept online ads plastered all over your web site over which you’ll have no control. If you are hosting a personal web site and are not concerned about a bunch of unrelated or possibly offensive ads on your web pages, a free web site may be a good way to go.

However, if you plan to establish an online business presence you should simply forget about free web page hosting. The limited range of features, coupled with a barrage of ads unrelated to your business, will certainly be a turn-off for your visitors.

It’s Not 1995 Anymore

Most web surfers today are pretty savvy and can spot a free website at a glance and will not take your business seriously if your website doesn’t exude at least a basic degree of professionalism. You just can’t do that with a free web site.

The Good News

It’s actually pretty easy to find paid, yet affordable, web hosting that will enable your online business to compete effectively against the big guys. That is, if you know the kind of web hosting solution that will suit your immediate and long term needs.

Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of free web page hosting versus a more comprehensive paid web hosting plan.

Free Hosting – Pros

  • Well, nothing is completely free. In the case of free web page hosting, it’s pretty close to being free except for having to put up with those pesky ads.
  • Free web sites that come with your ISP’s internet access plan are generally easy to set up and modify using free, though limited, web site design tools provided.
  • This is also true of the free hosting packages offered by some mainstream web hosting companies. They get some ad revenue. You get online for free.
  • Free sites should cause no concerns if you are planning to build a web site that is essentially non-commercial in nature.

Free Hosting – Cons

  • The main drawback with free web page hosting is that it obviuosly looks to your visitors like a non-commercial (read “unprofessional”) web site.

So if you are planning to transact any business online, whether product, software, or services sales, or affiliate and pay-per-click marketing. you simply must pay for your hosting.

Pellet Stoves: The Alternative

If you have had enough of whopping energy consumption bills due to use of electronic heating devices, its time you switch to pellet stoves. Pellets stoves refer to stoves that use pellets as a fuel. Pellets are very cost effective and are quite efficient as compared to the electronic devices used for the heating purposes.

Pellet stoves are effective home heaters. A pellet stove is just like a wood stove; the only difference is that it is automated.

A pellet stove is quite simple to use. You are just required to add pellets to the hopper of the stove and thereby set the desired heat output. The stove will automatically determine the optimum amount of air for combustion. Most pellet stoves come with a fan to circulate air via heat exchanger. Some stoves rely on radiant heat delivery process.

What is Pellet Fuel?
Pellets are biomass products, made-up of wood paste or sawdust. Pellets acts as a renewable and clean burning fuels. More than 600,000 thousand people in North America use wood pellets for heat. These pellets are used in fireplace inserts, furnaces and freestanding stoves. The pellet fuels turn waste materials into sources of energy.

How do pellet stoves work?
Pellet stoves are basically electronic devices. These stoves automatically adjust and control combustion, blowers, fans and heating. You are required to insert pellets into the hopper located at the top of the stove. A hopper generally holds up to 80 pounds of pellets.

Most pellet stoves contain an auger. The purpose of the auger is to deliver pellets to the combustion chamber from the hopper. The movements of the auger can be set manually, but it’s generally set automatically. Pellets are delivered at a rate of 1 pound per hour, in case of glowing fire, and 5 pounds per hour, for a blazing fire. The size of the fire depends on the amount of the feed.

The pellets are fed into the fire pot of the combustion chamber. To encourage super heated flame, combustion air is blown into the chamber. A fan, provided inside the stove, draws in the room air. The drawn air is heated at about 250 degrees in the heat exchanger. Then the warmed air is thrown back in the room. Pellet stoves rely on convective heat. This is the reason why pellet stoves are not hot when touched.

The combustion gases are vented outside the room via flue which exits on the top of the unit. Pellet stoves do not require chimneys.

Types of pellet stoves
Pellet stoves are available in various styles and size varieties. There are different types of pellet stoves available.

For great flexibility freestanding pellet stoves are available. These stoves are available with installation options. These stoves are supported by a pedestal. Freestanding pellet stoves are designed to be installed in any area of the house. However there is one limitation, they should never be installed in sleeping areas. These stoves are placed on a protector which is non-combustible in nature. Freestanding pellet stoves should always be installed at a safe distance away from combustible surfaces.

Fire place inserts are also a type of pellet stoves. These are installed in working fireplaces. The space between the fire place opening and insert is covered decoratively by a panel. These pellet inserts are typically installed in masonry fireplaces. These pellet stoves offer your home a look of fire place setting. These stoves are economical. You can apply bricks around and atop this type of stove to give it a look of fireplace. You would require a non-combustible floor protector to provide for air space under the unit.

Pellet stoves, no doubt, provide you with low cost fuel and reduces your energy consumption bills drastically. Mother Nature provides yet another better fuel alternative to keep you warm and cozy.
